Since childhood I was fascinated by science fiction movies. They are the true source of ideas and inspiration, help to think abstractly, exceed the limits of imagination and technological possibilities and break the rigid frames of reality. It is very useful during designing. Many movies of this genre play in my life a special role. Their incredible scenery and beautiful music are my inspiration.
And just like that – special – is also for me the Proxima. Since the first version was built six years ago, I spent a lot of time and attention to its design. New solutions and new technologies were elaborated especially for her and thanks to her. All these technologies were used later in other designs. Proxima has also evolved in sound. This time is no different.
Design of the first Proxima was inspired by mysterious monolith of S. Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey”. The inspiration for the latest version are soaring skyscrapers of future New York and wonderful creations created by Jean-Paul Gaultier for one of my favorite science-fiction movies – “The Fifth Element” by Luc Besson. In the movie, our planet was saved by four mysterious stones symbolizing the four elements: wind, fire, water and earth, and the beautiful and extraordinary woman “from the stars” was the fifth element. For me the 5 element on Earth is music. Let Proxima be this unique “fifth element”.
